Within the first two stanzas I thought that this poem was about the legendary ordeals prospective students have to undergo at the gates of Buddhist monasteries. I wasn't wrong. Straight-forward yet interesting, this poem provides a nice respite from all-too-abstract wanderings through poetry.

I'm not usually a fan of found poetry. I've read enough cramped matter-of-fact newspaper articles constricted further, until they feel claustrophobic. I've read the mutilated remains of the pages of novels, most of which make no sense at all once the poet is done. This is a bit off that beaten track. This is a textbook made poetic. It's an achievement, after all.

There's not much to write about this one. It's better to read it.
