'Versus..'
fav.me/d1ipqq6
Within the first two stanzas I thought that this poem was about the legendary ordeals prospective students have to undergo at the gates of Buddhist monasteries. I wasn't wrong. Straight-forward yet interesting, this poem provides a nice respite from all-too-abstract wanderings through poetry.
'The Line of a Thigh'
fav.me/d1kurmv
I'm not usually a fan of found poetry. I've read enough cramped matter-of-fact newspaper articles constricted further, until they feel claustrophobic. I've read the mutilated remains of the pages of novels, most of which make no sense at all once the poet is done. This is a bit off that beaten track. This is a textbook made poetic. It's an achievement, after all.

There's not much to write about this one. It's better to read it.

Features
1) Be one of the first 10 people commenting on this journal entry, and I will add you to the list.
2) Each of the first 10 people will have his or her avatar featured, along with the three deviations I like most from his or her gallery.
3) If you are one of the ten to be featured, you'll have to feature other deviants in your journal, in much the same way. If you'd like, you can add me to the list, but I don't find this necessary for my own participation. The spirit of this is not to get everyone free features, but to "spread the word" about good art.

The Fly
http://fav.me/d28humi
This shot makes the robber fly look almost cute, with those blank, staring eyes and long, gangly limbs. Don't be fooled. Robber flies consume their prey by stabbing them and injecting enzymes into their quickly-liquidized insides. They're like Russian ex-apparatchiks in the early 1990s!
Cockroach 01
http://fav.me/dq05ji
This cockroach looks quite at home next to the dusty vent. The yellow/red of the picture adds a creep factor to the cockroach that extends beyond the thought of it crawling all over you while you sleep. The focus of the cockroa

Final Painting
http://fav.me/d2n2qul
It's the detail that makes this one. The outline is ambiguous; it could be a skull or a helmeted head. The black "x" points toward the skull concept, though even the "x" itself is unclear. Does the "x" represent crossed bones, negation, both?
Kali the destroyer sits cross-legged in the center of the piece, but the figures around her are PhatDoughBoy (https://www.deviantart.com/phatdoughboy) 's own miniature pantheon of fishmen, demons, and armored constructs. The general impression is one of pandemonium--the Apocalypse?

And The Nickel Wins
http://fav.me/d2xc8qy
Though I encountered Amriahs writing first, Ive grown to more highly appreciate her photography. I agree with her artists description regarding this piece; I like the angle. The color is also attractive; the bright silver coins are well-contrasted against the dark red background.
Brown Landscape

Im a sucker for rolling hills and farm fields. What makes this piece better than a typical snapshot is its layers of color: sandy brown fields, grey wire fence, dark g
